Hi Everyone,

Seeking advice on how to exactly go about applying for PR. I have been surfing through the forum but the sheer information here is overwhelming.

To give you a brief idea of my profile:
- 37 Years Old
- Male
- Single
- with a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management from Mumbai University
- with over 11 years experience in the Film Distribution Business.
- Currently a Consultant in the Film Distribution & Syndication domain.

It would be great if anyone can point me towards the correct thread that would explain in detail the process to apply for Canadian PR.
- Is that the same as what they call Express Entry?
- What should be my first step? Is logging on to WES the correct first step?
- If so, should I be applying for the WES Standard Application? or the ECA Application for IRCC.

You need to check your CRS score to see if you have enough points to qualify for express entry. Probably with a postgraduate diploma you don't unfortunately.

You can understand the process on CIC website. However, I'll tell you the two key aspects:
1. Age - your CRS score may not go beyond 440 even with a Masters and not beyond 455 with a pH.D.. thus you would probably require PNP nomination.

2. Work experience - would you be able to get the experience letters issued?

I have created an account on WES with my Graduation & Post Grad Diploma details declared.

Was about to make the payment for the evaluation.

From what I understand, I will get a number after making the payment, which I need to use on the form to get my transcripts. Then courier the documents to WES.

Am I correct?

Also, I will be taking the IELTS in the month of March.

Yes, the information can be overwhelming on the forum. But what you can do, and it will help you greatly, is use Youtube as well. Just search for how to migrate to Canada and you will find many helpful videos that will explain to you. Just remember not to give up as yes initially it will be a lot to take in but the more you research about it the easier it gets.

Canada has many pathways for migration. The main three are:

1. ECONOMIC Migration (Permanent Residence): CLICK THIS LINK to see the programs under this.

Under the economic migration, you have a list of programs as shown by the above link. The most common programs fall under Express Entry which are Federal Skilled Work, Canadian Experience Class, and Provincial Nomination Program (PNP).

A. Federal Skilled Work (FSW) Program: This is a program which anyone with good education (graduate level) and experience can apply. The main requirements are to give Language exam (English or French) (IELTS or CELPIP), and authenticate your education certificates by going through Educational credential assessment (ECA). ECA has five bodies and the most common is WES. Please search this forum which is common for Indians and if possible for your University.

For FSW program, there are two checks, the first is to check if you are eligible for this program. The minimum score is 67 points. You can click this LINK to know more about it. If you score 67 points or above, you can create your Express Entry (EE) profile and get to the pool. At the moment, there are over 140K people in the pool waiting to be invited to apply the visa. To be invited you must have very high score of Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score, which is the second check. According to the trend now, anything above 470 score is an immediate pick. In 2019, the average was 450s, In 2018 was 440s, in 2017 was 430s. So, you can see the score is increasing significantly every year due to the popularity of the program.​

B. Canadian Experience Class: This is for those who have Canadian education and/or job experience. The Canadian education must have been in Canada as far as I know.

C. Provincial Nomination Program (PNP): This is a program where a province/region in Canada invites a candidate to apply the visa to the Federal Government. Each Province has its rules and ways of selecting a candidate, you need to research about it. The PNP is popular for those who do not have enough CRS points to be directly selected for FSW program. The PNP, if nominated by the province, will give you 600 points on top of what you already had, that means a guaranteed invitation to apply in the next Federal draw (which usually happens every two weeks and on Wednesdays). 2. Family Reunification (Permanent Residence): This is for Spouse sponsorship program or parent/grand-parents.

3. Refuge program
