Hello guys! I hope you can help. I would like to sponsor my husband. we've just got married recently but the problem is he quit his job last december 2012 but he's still have a valid work permit until next year October 2014. Can you please help me :( :( :( There's a question that we've got confused. GENERIC APPLICATION FORM FOR CANADA IMM 0008 QUESTION 3 (EDUCATION/OCCUPATION DETAIL) CURRENT OCCUPATION????? He's not working right now. What he should write??? N/A OR UNEMPLOYED OR WE SHOULD WRITE WHAT HIS WORK PERMIT SAYS ON THE VALIDITY (OCTOBER 2014)

Tell the truth, that he is unemployed. On a separate paper he can write (in detail) how he plans to find employment and how he will be able to pay for things once you are in Canada as well.

but can i still sponsor him? We have all the documents showing all joint accounts and life insurance.

ok wait. You are the sponsor? If so, his employment isn't a big concern. His work or lack there of is not relevant to you sponsoring him.

Sorry I misunderstood.

If you're sponsoring him, he doesn't need a job. He needs to prove what he has been doing, that's why CIC asks questions. So write unemployed, explain that he just quit his job but his work permit is still valid, and he is looking for work.

You, as a sponsor, don't need to be employed either, but you need to prove how you plan on supporting him and not go on welfare. So if you have a job, include proofs of that. If you don't have a job, then explain how you plan on supporting yourself and him.

Good luck,
Sweden

i don't think he can pays for his expenses if his writing the explanation. He wasn't able to work anywhere else. Please someone had the same experience with us. Please help :( :( :(

jhoi,

I misunderstood your first post. As you are the sponsor he will not need to write an explanation as to how he will pay for things.

Sweden posted that CIC only want information regarding his work and background history just to know what he has been doing and where.

You can sponsor him and his not working will not be an issue.

Thanks for your info. Some of my friends there told me to get an immigration lawyer. I'am a job since I've got my Permanent Residency
