Hi,

I started my career as a Software Engineer, job profile being programming and creating software applications and websites. Eventually I switched to a new organization and am working as a programmer in a bank in IT division but since its a bank some 240 years old they have predefined posts and I am given designation as Client Reporting Specialist as I create complex reports for clients by programming in vb.net and Oracle as database. My question is which is the category(NOC) I should go for in FSW - 2173 or 2174 ?

Thanks guys!

I am also confused on which NOC I belong to. I have worked as a software testing quality assurance engineer and a programmer.

Please apply for the NOC in which you have a longer duration in terms of work experience so that you can earn a good score in your rating. It doesn't matter if its the first job. as long as it falls within the last 10 years

Pay more attention to the duties and job descriptions because titles vary from company-to-company across the world. See the links below to compare which NOC more closely matches with what you do.

2173 Software engineers and designers: http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/NOC/2011/ProfileQuickSearch.aspx?val=2&val1=2173&val65=2173

2174 Computer programmers and interactive media developers: http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/NOC/2011/ProfileQuickSearch.aspx?val=2&val1=2174&val65=2174
