Hello, my husband and I (I am a Canadian citizen) both live in Seoul, South Korea. He is a Cameroonian citizen but he has lived legally in Korea for the last 3 years.

I understood from what I read online that your application is sent to the office closest to your country of valid residence. Korean applications are processed in Manila.

I got my SA today (hooray) but in the letter it said his application was sent to Dakar.

My only real issue is if they want us to interview. Seoul-Dakar is not easy. Is it possible to either convince them to send it to Manila instead, or in the case of an interview, have the interview in Manila rather than Dakar?

Any help is much appreciated. Also any insight on who I can call. The only number I can find is for within Canada.

Unfortunately CIC can send your application to the office they see fit to process your application . For E.G some Brits have had their applications sent to Ottawa , and New Deli apps have been sent to London.
I'm not sure but i assume Dakar is near your husband homeland .

You can email the Dakar VO to request a transfer to Manila. It is up to them if they accept this transfer request or not. The interview will be held wherever the file is being processed.

Same thing happened to us. My husband was living in New York but originally from Trinidad. His file was sent to Trinidad.
We had an interview and had to travel to Trinidad for the interview as well.

It is best just to follow the process. If you request a transfer that might add months to your application.

We were completed in 7 months.

The Dakar VO rarely schedules an interview...except u have some big RED FLAGS.

Visa for Cameroonian citizens are processed in Dakar-Senegal.

When I did my Quebec skilled worker programme in 2010, my file was handled by Paris because I was living in Europe.

Now I'm sponsoring my wife, living in Cameroon. Her file is in Dakar.

Write to Dakar may be they can change the VO.

Thanks for the reassurances. I'm hoping all will be fine. Just cross my fingers and pray it goes smoothly.

I am sure it will. It is just a process we all have to follow.

I had the same case. actually i sponsored my wife who lives in paris but she is a senagal citizen so her file was send to Dakar VO and I send a few emails to Dakar VO to transfer her file to paris but they never replied. however her file took only 8 months (02-18-2015 to 21-10-2015) for the all process (that was good a guess.)
so don't worry cuz usually the process is 7 to 9 months and they rarely ask for interview.

I am in the same situation. Our dependant app who lives in Dominican Republic her app was recently sent to Dakar office for processing. CIC as I just found out can send the application anywhere they like for processing.

Yes they can and it is usually done to share the workload. So that should be a good thing for you, might be faster processing.
