Hi everyone,

I am hoping i can get some help in understandting implied status in regards to my situation.

I am currently finishing my second year on the International Experience Canada working holiday program ( on a OWP). My visa will run out on June 1st 2013.
I am currently engaged and getting married at the end of may ( i realise probably worst timing to have a wedding :p ), and am currently in a common law relationship.

Now im going through all the application issues ( and yes i know i have left it a tad late). If i send off my PR application with a OWP application together (inland) does this mean i can continue to work (on implied status) until i receive AIP and new work visa? Or since i do not have an LMO this will not be the case and i need to apply to change my status to a visitor and then not work for next 6 months or so until i get AIP?

So basically i just need to know what the best option is for me? Im not sure how it all works because of the IEC program and if that screws up my implied status because of me not having a LMO.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

A lot of people will say yes. I'm going to say no, because PMM said no.

ask for 1 year, and explain that you want to stay here because you are applying for PR. and put the proofs of your application (fees paid for example) with the visitor visa. You might get lucky and been given a year visitor visa. Or be given less (6 months) and you will have to renew it.

I'm going to say ask for whatever you want. If you're applying for PR with a spouse, tell CIC this. Then ask for enough to cover the processing. That's what I did for my third extension. I asked for 14 months. Ottawa was taking 12 months at the time, plus 2 months to give bumper room. I also offered to send in a copy of my receipt for PR fees or medical report as I hadn't mailed in my PR application yet. I got 14 months ;)
