My Canadian Common law Spouse is sponsoring me and I have my application all set to go. I thought I could pay the fees online but I just read that I can't. I am sending my application into Buffalo and they say "All fees for Family Class applicants must be submitted to the Case Processing Centre in Mississauga, Ontario using an official fee receipt (IMM5401)." But you can only order the receipt to a Canadian address and then you have to make the payment through a Canadian financial institution?? My spouse and I live the US currently and we could have it sent to his parents house but then we have no idea how we would go about making the payment! I am so confused and frustrated. Every time I think I have figured it all out a new thing comes up. Please help. I have searched through the forum and found nothing. Thank you

You can pay them online at cic.gc.ca - see side bar (pay fees), after you pay online you then have to print off the receipt and send it in with your application (I assume you're applying outland - sending your app to Mississauga for sponsor processing then they will forward to Buffalo?). Also, I highly reccomend paying the RPRF at the same time as the rest of the fees...it speeds up the process considerably!

Good luck!

Did you trying paying online with credit card?

I was planning on paying my fees by CC then I read that if you live outside of Canada which I currently am. You can not do that. My spouse and I live in the US right now while he is finishing up his Master Degree. He will be done soon though and moving back to Canada. But we are sending the application from here to the Mississauga Ontario office. Since we are sending it to the office in Ontario does that mean that paying online is okay? I think the more I read the more confused I am.

You can pay online if you live in the US, as long as you send the receipt (which will be sent to you via email once you have paid) with the rest of your application to Mississauga. Hope that helps...

I have this problem too. I selected Buffalo as my processing site and got this message:

"electronic payments cannot be made for applications that are sent to Citizenship and Immigration Canada processing centres outside Canada."

Because you are not reading the instructions, the sponsorship and the application are sent in one package to Mississauga, that is the office that you select to pay the fees on line.

It's being processed in Buffalo, but you're sending it to Mississauga if it's family class. I was confused about that too, so I thought I couldn't pay online and my partner almost wasn't let into Canada to visit me because I didn't have the receipt for the fees.

We paid online from the UK too. As PMM states above, make sure you select Mississauga as that is where the entire application is sent. It is then forwarded by CIC to the local CPC.

hello whoopi83,

I paid online too for my outland application.... Please, how did you sign into ecas using your receipt. I have been trying to sign into ecas...

You can only sign in to e-cas once they've started processing your file...

If you have paid you will have a receipt with R*********, enter the sponsors details and receipt number and when they begin processing, it will appear on eCAS. If they havene't started on it, it will simply return you to the main screen.
