Hi all,

I'm a bit in a doubt of what to do.

I work in Canada in low skilled occupation, with positive LMIA (same company) for high skilled. Since I'm from visa exempt country, in a few weeks I will go get a new work permit at POE.

I have 1 year of high skilled work experience from back home and after obtaining new permit wanted to apply for FSW. Got all needed paperwork (CELPIP, ECA, recommendation letter etc.) but the thing is that I was working there (full-time) while being a student, through some student agency. Since they keep records up to 5 years, I'm not in them anymore. Because that was a student agency, there was no contribution for pension plan. Paystubs have been thrown away long time ago.

My question is - is it for CIC letter of reference enough? The employer is legitimate and can confirm in writing, through e-mail and over the phone that I really worked there, and provide all the details necessary.

Thank you in advance!

A job reference letter on official letterhead signed by a legitimate authorized signatory working at the legitimate organization is sufficient to prove the authenticity and validity of work experience. Any other supporting documentation may come in handy if CIC asks for additional evidence from you later in the process (very unlikely event).

Thank you Asivad for quick reply. Yeah, that is what I was wondering, in what circumstances CIC asks for additional evidence, as in when happens that may... Have you heard of cases like that?

Yes, that will be fine as long as your reference letter meets all the requirements specified by CIC:

http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/updated-fsw-document-checklist-t341631.0.html

(Scroll down to employment reference).

They clearly state: "Proof must include a reference letter from your employer and pay stubs, if you have them."
Thank you. It is stated You must provide proof of work experience for your current job and for each past position you listed.

Does this mean I have to provide employment records for my current job, no matter it has nothing to do with the job which I am declaring experience on?

Or just records for experience which I declare while creating EE profile, in my case that 1 year outside Canada

It can happen if they have any suspicions about the legitimacy of the organization hence the associated work experience.

I worked as an EFL teacher for two language schools in Slovakia for ten years, ending in 2012, when I came to Canada. I have no pay stubs, as money was simply transferred into my bank account each month. There was no work contract, either. I got reference letters from the schools, carefully written to CIC specifications, and the heads of each school provided contact information and invited CIC to call or email if there were any concerns or questions.

As far as I know, CIC hasn't done that, but I think being able to contact someone for confirmation could serve in place of other paper evidence to back up your work history.

Take a chance. They only call employers when you do not have proper strong employment related documents int he application. So to provide a strong employment document this is what you need to do -
1. Employment Letter
a. Current employment letter that is less than 2 months old.
b. On company's letter head (color scanned copy).
c. Provides a background of the company in para 1.
d. Provides details of your employment start date, number of hours per week on your contract, your daily duties and responsibilities (make sure these are aligned with the NOC you quote in your application), salary, name and designation of the person you report in the firm.
e. Last paragraph with firm's contact details.

2. Payslips
a. Attach all payslips for this firm.

3. T4

4. Notice of Assessment

5. Original job contract, signed by you and the firm authority providing the contract with date of signing

Once there is strong proof for employment, the chances of the officer to not be convinced are less and no phone call verification will be required. Remember always, think logically by putting yourself in the shoes of the immigration officer and make a checklist of documents you would ask from an applicant to make sure his employment records are not fake. Goodluck.

Thanks for the reply but I think you misunderstood my situation. I have no problems with contacting ex company, via phone or email. I have no paystubs. This job was outside Canada so there is no T4s nor NOA
