Help - Forgot to carry work permit during travel outside canada

Hi,

I have travelled back to my hometown last week and I realised today that I have forgotten to carry my work permit along with me. I am returning back to Canada on May 29th. I have my trv stamped in my passport and do not have my original work permit with me. Will it be a problem while re-entering Canada?
I am so worried now and was wondering if I can let the officer know that I have forgotten to carry it with me and if I can show a scanned copy of it in my phone??

Any help or suggestions would be grateful!

You should be allowed in since you have a valid TRV and yes, if asked, show them the copy of the work permit. Expect the CBSA officer to take some time to verify things, and hope that the officer is in a good mood.

They may take you to secondary screening, but assuming that your permit is valid and your TRV is valid, you shouldn't have too much trouble reentering.

I'd actually print out the scanned copy in case your phone dies or the officer doesn't like that you're showing him/her a tiny screen. Make it easy for the officer, print it out.

It went well. I told the officer that I forgot to carry my original work permit. I carried a print out of it and also showed the original scanned copy. He checked the system and cross verified things. Told me not to forget it the next time and let me in

This has happened for me. I had a photocopy of it, and told the officer that I forgot to carry during the travel. Then officer allowed me to enter after checking his database and told me not miss in the future.

how was your experience i have the same issue travelling tomorrow and forgot the original WP copy

Don’t worry. In my case my friend was coming I asked him to bring my wp, so he brought it to me one day before my travel date.

I traveled Delhi-Toronto. At Delhi immigration they didn’t asked me for my wp ( it depends on your location). But tat Toronto immigration they asked for original wp and verified it. So I would suggest carry a photocopy of it maybe.
