Hello, I just made an acc for this.
It would be very grateful if anyone could answer to my question! Thank you :)

Currently, I have my study permit that I got very recently.
I have 2 children and they have their study permit also, which will expire this September.
We are living in Canada and I’d like to extend my children’s status as a visitor, so that they can study for free in school with me. When a parent is student, their children can study, right?
And I think it’s the VISITOR RECORD (IMM 5708) that I have to apply..
Is this correct?

Thanks!!

What was there situation before? Were they international students? You actually have to be studying to qualify for your children to attend school. Will you be attending your program this September and how long is your program?

Hello, thank you so much for your answer!

Before, my children were student (not international) while I was visitor.
Now, I am student and they are visitor.

And yes, I will be attending a school from this September till the next June.

Thank you again :)

How were they attending school while you were a visitor? You should have been required to pay international fees.

Both were in a private school!
Yes they can try to switch to visitor status. Family members of international students are not guaranteed permits of visas. IRCC is now requiring that some children of international students get study permits. It does seen like you may be attending school to allow you children to attend school in Canada. Canada tends not to respond well if they feel that people have ulterior motives. Of courses you will be expected to attend your full-time post-secondary program,

Wow..thank you so much! I will have to look for that again..

Just one more question,
I am confused about the question 8 of IMM 5708 (Visitor record).

It says, “Previous countries or territories of residence : During the past 5 years, have you lived in any country or territory other than you country of citizenship or your current country or territory of residence (indicated above) for more than 6 months? NO-YES”

My current country/territory of residence is Canada, as a STUDENT.
I was only in my country of citizenship AND Canada, no other country for the past 5 years.
Do I have to select No?
Or select Yes and say that I was in Canada as a VISITOR for the previous months..

Sorry and thanks again

The answer would be no unless you have lived in another country other than SK or Canada for 6 months.
