hi!i'm from the philippines. i am a permanent resident here in Canada.i would like to seek advice with regards to my youngest sister. i am the one supporting her and paying for her education.she is now 1st yr college taking up chemical engineering in Phils. our mom passed away 5 yrs ago and since then ive been the one looking after her. she is 17 turning 18 this november. our dad can't look after her for he have undergone a major heart surgery.i treated my sister as my eldest daughter and we always take her with us to all our trips in phils and abroad. i'll be getting my 2 other kids from the philippines and i am worried about my sister.i want her to be with us so i can guide and look after her.is there any way i can get her? whats the best thing for me to do? should i adopt her ?get her study permit or can i sponsor her? thank u so much!

STudy permit is the only way. She will have to pay international fees about $12K per year and she will need $10K per year for living expenses. She is not an orphan and will be over 18 before any adoption takes place.

Hi kababayan! She's not an orphaned, so in my opinion, you can't sponsor her. Study permit is the most likely possible option. Unless you want to spknsor your Father and she'll still be considered as his dependent but as the sponsorship for parents, gparents & other relatives is on hold, study permit is all you've got. But you may want to seek the professional's opinion. In Vancouver, we have "Immigration Services Society of BC" located at Drake Vancouver. You may want to call them and seek help. They can schedule you for an hour of free Lawyer Appointment.
