Hello everyone,

I am planning to send my citizenship application in the first week of August, 2013. I have the following concerns;

1. I am presently on paternity leave since April 2013. I am going back to work only in December, 2013. In Section 6F, under the column Work/Education, I am going to put ' PATERNITY LEAVE'. Is that ok? do you think its going to trigger an RQ?

2. What I am supposed to put under the 'Employer/school attended' column in the same section? Can I still put my employer's name? Am I still considered their employer? I am going back to continue my work with the same employer when I finish my eligible paternity leave? Or do I put it blank?

Appreciate your valuable opinion and comments... thanks in advance

1. Putting "parental leave" for that time period is preferable to leaving it blank. We don't know if it will trigger an RQ or not. This question was asked in an internal CIC email released through the Access To Information and Privacy Act (ATIP) but the answer was redacted. "La plupart de nos clients ont eu une période sans emploi pendant la période de 4 ans. Avec le nouvel OB [operational bulletin] nous devons envoyer un questionnaire de résidence à la majorité de nos clients...Un individu en congé parental est-il sans emploi?" -p43 http://residencequestionnaire.wordpress.com/delayland/

2. I recommend putting your employer's name, since you will return to the job and adding parenthetically (parental leave 4/2013-12/2013). Writing "home maker" or "volunteer" or "parental leave" or "retired" is preferable to leaving time periods blank.

Good luck and congratulations on the little one.
