Thanks a lot hmisabpk you have been very helpful in answering my questions.
But again it confounds my troubles since I cant possibly stay longer than 10 days or lose my degree
Hi, Mary Clark,

Try to call Medical surveillance office on first day and follow the instruction, do the required test (x-ray) in any clinic on urgent basis, get report and fax back to Med-Surveillance office. They will send reconfirmation form to the doctor office. You may call and follow up with them or maybe you can call from oversees (if you will go back before the completion of process) to check and make sure that they received the required documents (result) from your Doctor.
(Hopefully will be negative because it is inactive infection/ disease and already treated)

Hope its help,
if any further information required, I will be happy to assist.

Regards,

hmisabpk

Thanks a ton!Last few doubts please
1)So now if I do everything on express basis and return to India obviously the complete med surveillance not completed, on the next visit at port of entry, will i face any problems?
2)Is there any time gap between my entry and my passport expiration date. Actually the time gap between my expirationof visa and expiration of passport is one month. If I consider this option of getting into Canada in the last days of my visa validity(at that time I can spare a longer time from my course)Will it create any problem while I enter Canada that my passport expiration date is so close?
Can I get my passport renewed in Canada once I enter?
Please help

(If you will complete med - surveillance test requirements, your surveillance file will be closed - so no problem when you will return back to Canada)

Please help

Hi Mary and hmisabpk,

Im a newbie here and I received my visa yesterday but then I got this medical surveillance form because of inactive tb.
Im so sad and disappointed since I know that I dont have that disease since Im a medical worker and I have gone through chest xrays before medical and they are all normal. I have as well consulted the clinic which I had my medical and apparently they are all negative. Chest xray and sputum test. One person had told me that they randomly pick names for further medical investigations unfortunately they have chosen mine. :)
So now I got this form and I do not what to do, I am planning to be there for 20days only and be back here in Dubai since I have work and might not extend my vacation. Can u advise me if that will be enough for my medical investigations over there? Mary did u already landed? Can u tell me what happen to you and ur experience of landing with those medical surveillance..

Thank you and I hope for you replies...

Hi, rafellow,

It is not true that they pick any one randomly, and your name came for Medical Surveillance, this is a standard procedure set by Canadian health authorities / Department to recheck all inactive TB cases by Canadian Medical Surveillance upon their arrival in Canada.
Upon your arrival you have to present this form with your passport and landing paper to immigration officer.
Next day call the Med-Surveillance Clinic and report them, follow the instruction. Go for further X-ray chest, request urgent report fax the report to the same center immediately. If everything is clear and negative your Med-Sur file will be closed.
As you are a medical person you have better knowledge about your case and inactive T.B, but there is no exemption from Medical Surveillance reporting system.

Other advice, bring your all old x-ray and reports it will help the Doctor to go through and compare the new film with previous film.

Rest Mary can reply you if she is landed and went through the Surveillance. For my understanding you have enough time to complex the procedure.

Hope that helps,

hmisabpk

Sir hmisabpk,

One more thing about my COPR, the one which is written in my destination is Toronto but then ill be landing in Vancouver, will that give me a problem? Do I have to inform the Immigration again? And about the proof of funds to carry if its 10,000 CAD in cash I need to inform the Immigration Officer right? But what about if 5,000 in cash and 5,000 tru bank draft on in cheque do I still have to inform the Immigration Officer? Thank you.

Hi, radfellow,

No problem if your destination is different city then COPR. Medical Surveillance procedure is the same; you don't need to inform them again.
For further on landing city read this thread: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/doubts-can-i-land-anywhere-matter-which-poe-to-choose-t35499.135.html
Regarding POF:
CAD $ 10,000 or above must be declared at POE, no matter cash or bank draft.

Hope that helps,

hmisabpk
