hi

i have a question regarding this form :

it asks - were you a full time student during any of the above listed periods ?

my answer to this question is yes, then details section :

i was working after i finished school and the day i applied for my WP.

so should i put the to date - as when i applied for WP

OR

the date my last exam was held ? - because i applied for WP two months after my last exam

OR

the date i got my final transcript ? (i applied for WP the very next day i got my final transcript)

please help - this is really confusing. :(

Confusing.

Answer the following so I can try to help you:

When did your academic year officially end?

When did you start working?

How come you were working at the time you applied for WP? It's illegal to work without a valid WP.

Since January 2013, the date you graduated does not matter. Once you complete your studies and cease to be a full-time student, you can start counting your NOC 0/A/B work experience.

Experience during OCWP is counted if by that time the applicant has completed his requirements for school and officially graduated. In the case above, he graduated on 31st August, so any time worked on OCWP will count for experience towards CEC.

hi zareef

When did your academic year officially end?

my final exams were held in december 2012, but i had to wait for my results until february, so technically my transcript said graduate in februray.

I applied for PGWP the very next day i got my final transcript.

When did you start working?

I was working before my final exams, the date i got my final result and the day I got PGWP, on an OCWP until I got my PGWP. So for a brief period of a month and a half, my status was implied (working on OCWP, waiting for PGWP). I think this answers your question below ,,, :)

Which means you completed degree requirements in February. You can start counting work experience from February onwards. And if you do not use any pre-February experience, then you don't have to answer "Yes" to being "a full-time student during any of the above periods".

i want to add here that I thing once you got your graduation certificate (saying this guy graduated on this date) you are doe with studies...you can start working..

now sending transcript can take university or college up to 5 months. also graduation certificate shows the date you graduated,..

transcript (in my case ) only shows the date transcript issued/ (this date changes because you can get transcript any time and it will show when its issued)

your graduation date is on your graduation certificate ( saying mr.abc awarded bla bla certificate on this date.)

Not necessarily. Anything that shows you completed degree requirements is good enough. A letter from the university or a transcript showing you "graduated" or "completed degree requirements" on some particular date would suffice.

thanks for your answer zareef...

but the thing is i won't be using xp gained on OCWP.. and since guide says list all work xp for last 3 years which fall sunder o, a or b NOC category. i am filling out all noc o, a & b xp even from my school (even if it is not eligible, but because it falls under last 3 years ).

my question was - what should be the "to" date for full time status. the day i got my wp or the day i got my final results saying "eligible to grad". i mean, when did my full time student status finished ??

Case in point:

I -
-> had my last final exam in mid April 2013
-> last semester ended on April 30, 2013
-> received PGWP much later

In my case, the last day of my final semester was April 30, 2013, even though I was done with the final exams much earlier. I guess the same applies for you.

I think zareef is exactly right. It isn't so much about graduation date any more, as whether you were registered as a full-time student - the end date of the last semester that you were registered as "full-time" is technically when you ceased to be a full-time student. If you had to register for a final semester in order to graduate, even if you had finished your exams, you indicate the end date of that last semester.

In your case, I guess that would be about the same time that you received the PGWP. But if you didn't have to register full-time for the spring semester, you can *probably* claim the experience from January on the OCWP. But be sure to give yourself some extra time "just in case..." The conservative "safest" approach is to count from the date you received the PGWP (if you can afford the extra time).

I am not counting any experience before my PGWP ,,,

I just wanted to know what date should I put on as "end date for my full-time student status"

I am pretty sure we are supposed to enter all the experience gained over last 3 years, as suggested in the guide, no matter if you are considering it as eligibility experience or not

Please correct me if I am wrong here,,,

I put the date when I received my degree. But it is also okay to put the date when you completed all your requirements of a full time student.

This is a grey area. Instructions do not make it clear as to put ALL experiences in the last 3 years or just those that you are claiming for CEC. I have seen applicants using either successfully receive their PR granted. I recommend that in Schedule 8, put only the experience that you are claiming for CEC.

Please correct me if I am wrong here,,,
