I was given a file number that starts with X because CPC Mississauga wanted me to submit a Use of Representative form that wasn't initially included in my spousal sponsorship application.

I mailed the form almost 1 month ago, but I have not heard anything from them. I also uploaded the Use of Representative form to their online web form.

Last week, I called CIC and they confirmed the Use of Representative form is attached to my file. They could not confirm if the web form people uploaded it or if the CPC Mississauga office that I mailed the form to uploaded it.

My question is, is it normal to take so long to hear from them after they received my use of representative form? Their request letter stated that I needed to send them the required documents within 45 days or they will return the whole package to me. Is it possible that they wait exactly 45 days before looking at the file again to make sure it is complete and move on to AOR?

Whoever has any insight or suggestions, please let me know. It's getting close to the 45 day mark so I am getting worried.

Thanks. They haven't contacted me yet. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with this and if this delay is normal/expected?

You're lucky the entire application wasn't sent back in the first place, and that you were given the opportunity to submit the form. Many people have had the application sent back for that very issue over the past year. My guess is that it's normal for it to take a bit of time once they receive it. I never had to send additional documentation with my application at all, but from what I'm seeing with other posts it's not uncommon to wait a good chunk of the time they give you to provide the documentation. It all depends on a lot of variables that we aren't really privy to.

In MyCIC, does the application number still start with X?
