I sent my application online to extend my stay as a visitor. I sent it on the 14 of September.
My actual permit expires tomorrow, on the 10th of october.

The processing times say 15 days but hasnt been updated since it says working on applications submited on September 10.

In my CIC the application status says open.

What i do??? why is it taking so long?
what happens if my actual permit expires tomorrow and i havent got an answer?
Hope someone can help me. Thanks!!

You have implied visitor status until you receive a decision.

Don't worry. As long as you submitted the extension application before the visa expires (submitted means it is received by CIC), you are legal to stay in Canada for the period after the expiration date and before they make a decision and your extension. For example, if it takes CIC ten years to process your application, you can legally stay in Canada for ten years regardless of the result of the extension application.

Awesome, thank you so much for that.

Do you know if the times of the cic site vary or could it be something else what is taking longer for an answer?
In my first extended stay i got it 2 days before of the time cic said on their site so this time im getting worried.
Is there any reason for me to worry?
Thanks for your time!!

As long as the post mark shows it was sent prior to the expire date you're fine.

You would think so, but it all depends on if CIC has received it , prior to the expiry date of the OP's permit.
Hopefully, the OP sent it with some sort of delivery confirmation receipt and/or tracking number.

The OP clearly states they applied online.

This is the information I was given when I called CIC to check the status of my application Re: extending visitor visa.

Hey everyone.
so still not answer, i dont think anything will happen on weekend or holiday monday...
is there any reason i should be this worried? im really freaking out..i thought the hard part was my PR application not my second extended stay but...why is it taking so long? is it the 15 days time that CIC say not accurate right now? or it might be another reason?

I just..i wold love to know if others believe i do have a reason to be this worried..thanks!!!

stay calm and breath, you cannot control the outcome of CIC, lol. Call them on Tuesday (Monday Is a Holiday) and ask to ease your mind. The worst case scenario you get declined and asked to leave, then you appeal it. As I mentioned before, My visitor visa expires October 14th, I am not worried at all.

Hi everyone, just me bothering again. I still havent received anything :( I tried to call CIC and all it said was if you send it after September 10 that they are still checking them. Is all through the recording voice though, i never got a chance to speak with anyone.

Is there a trick on the call to actually get to talk to a person? I follow the extended stay bla bla bla and is all recordings so I was wondering how i get to actually talk to someone, any tricks?

Thanks!!

Just update, right now site just changed. Says online applications processing times 14 days, working on applications sent on september 18th.

Should i send a case specific enquiry? should i call and this time i will get to talk to someone since is out of the date they mention? or what can i do? please help??
