hi all ,

Is there any way that international students while in Canada can apply for loan or any grant to pay for their tuition ? (i know that if they have a guaranter who is PR/citizen ,then they can apply ,but i'm looking for something that they can do by themselves.not looking for huge loan but around 4k to 6k) and
there is OSAP program but its for PR/citizens .

I cant see anything else

Please ,seniors and people who have experience in this matter please give your input here and any guidance would be highly appreciated
P.S i couldnt find any bursary /grants for international students that i can apply to at this time ,
if u have any relevant details about that do let me know please.

(i was asked by many people to post this question )

Maybe there are but the easiest solution is to get one from the country you are citizen of.

thanks ,and i spent already like $30K here ,from back home family support .
I dont wanna ask them to sell whats left.
anyways thanks for the response.

will wait for someone who knows the answer

oh my god Is this the real condition in Canada ??
what we people do you are dreaming of canada man.

Where are you living in canada ?

It depends on the uni you go to really, personally the Uni I'm going to (university of toronto) does offer loans to international mba students like myself for a maximum of half the tuition fee. So check with the uni you are applying.. it is unlikely but not impossible.

Otherwise, if you are in the process of PR or have a cosigner who is a citizen.. then lots of other loan opportunities are available.

I sent email to Ministry of Ontario regarding financial assistance to international students last year. They replied me in detail, it might help you.

Reply from Ministry of Education (Ontario):

The Ontario government does not offer any financial assistance to international students at the undergraduate level. However, a limited number of scholarships are available at the graduate level. You will find information on the Ontario Graduate Scholarship program on the ministry's website at:

https://osap.gov.on.ca/OSAPPortal/en/A-ZListofAid/TCONT003465.html#P50_2527

A list of scholarships for non-Canadians can be viewed on the Government of Canada International Scholarships website at:

https://w01.scholarships-bourses.gc.ca/scholarshipnoncdn-boursenoncdn.aspx?lang=eng

You will also find information on scholarships for international students on the following website at:

http://www.studycanada.ca/english/scholarships_canada_international_students.htm

You may want to visit the online resource centre offered by the Government of Canada, which lists scholarships, bursaries, awards, grants, and other forms of financial assistance that are supported by private sector and not-for-profit organizations at:

http://www.studentawards.com

You may also wish to check with the department of education in your country to find out if it participates in programs where financial assistance is offered to students by international organizations.

You will find information for international students who want to study in Ontario on the ministry's website at:

http://www.tcu.gov.on.ca/eng/postsecondary/study/

The Association of Universities and Colleges in Canada (AUCC) website also has useful information for international students planning to study in Canada:

Another option is to get help from any good consultant. Although, I don't prefer to get consultancy for visa process but in this situation some consultants can assist you.

thanks guys ,
for all the comments and suggestions
Consultant?

*** i would like to give a suggestion to people out there ,just DONT go to small provinces in Canada ...go to provinces where PR process is easy ,thats why i am moving to ontario to continue school again**

Hello Friend,

Hi, my name is Hassan Raza from Pakistan, was a medical student in Changsha, China. I am finished my studies here and have an admission letter from Kaplan International College in Toronto, Canada. I also have a letter from my cousin who lives in Toronto. He's been living there for twenty years and will support me while I study there for 10 months. He is financially able to support me the entire time.
My Chinese Student visa is valid until the 30th of August. Classes in Toronto will start in September 2012.
My question is, I have admission letter, supporting letter from my cousin, what else do I need to have in order to get my study permit? My father in Pakistan will send me a bank statement from there, will you accept that ?(how much money should there be in the bank statement). According to Kaplan College I need to be Toronto at least one month before I start studies.
My second question is weather I can apply from China? Please let me know what other things I need to provide with my application to secure that I will get a student visa.

Dr.Hassan
