Please help,

I am an Australian citizen who is about to enter Canada (BC) on a 24 month working holiday visa.

Under the requirements I must have 24 months worth of medical insurance, to cover my time.

Can any one please advise how they have got around this as you can only purchase for a maximum of 12 months at a time!

If anyone can please share their experience of this situation?

Thanking you kindly.

Im an Aussie, and when I came to Canada in 2010 I only got 12 months insurance. I had everything ready that they say is required to show when you enter Canada, and they never asked to look at it.

Since i got here and lost my MSP due to my status while waiting for AIP i signed up for insurance through World Nomads. Pretty cheap and you can extend the policy..

Hi,

I'm not sure on all the provinces but for BC once you have been residing in the province for 6 months you become eligible for provincial medical coverage. You do need to apply, and have proof of employment, but you will be eligible for it. Check on the province you plan to go to.

Also there are a number of insurance companies in Canada that sell Visitors to Canada Insurance. Here's one: travelinsurance.ca/

So as long as you have some insurance for the first part of your stay, you will be fine. Don't panic too much about it.
