Hello,

I have lived and worked in Canada for the last 2 years, my visa recently ran out at the start of November so I returned home while my company had an LMIA application in process. This has now come back positive.
Does anyone know if I can just arrive at the border (Vancouver airport) and get my WP there? I can apply from outside but it takes 4+ weeks and my company want me back asap.

I am from Ireland which does not require a TRV when arriving at the border.

Any help is appreciated!! :)

Hi

Yes, you can apply for a work permit upon entry.

Hi again canuck_in_uk,

I have another question for you. Do you know what paperwork is best to bring with me to the border?

I have my LMIA confirmation and my original job offer on company letterhead signed by me and my employer.

Do I need to fill in a WP application package and bring it with me or do they do all that there? And do I pay the WP fee at the border? Or pay online in advance?

Sorry for all the questions I just cant seem to find the info anywhere!!

You need the LMIA, the job offer and proof that you meet the requirements of the job (i.e. resume and education documents).

As far as I know, you don't need to fill out a work permit app or pay fees ahead of time.

Okay that is about all I could find on the website too. I have worked in the position since June but had to come home due to my visa running out. Im guessing a letter from the company to state I have worked in the position and met all the requirements/qualifications needed is should suffice?? I will st gather any docs I can anyway.

Thanks for your help.
