I'm getting married soon, (next month! US to a Canadian) and I am a little confused about a few things. When should I do the medical and Police Clearance? Now?

Thanks! :)

Get the clearance ASAP since the FBI website says 15-17 weeks of processing, but a lot of people get it way under those numbers, they usually get it at 3-5 weeks. And with the medical, it is also recommended doing it after sending your application in. Depending on where you go, it's usually 10-14 days for them to send it. And from what I have learned the medical only lasts for 12 months, so that's why it's better to do it when you send your application in.

I've read the police certificate lasts 3 months, so do you think they'll ask for within that time frame?

Thanks for the speedy response :D

Yeah the clearance lasts for 3 months so you have plenty of time to work on your application and gather proofs etc And sorry can you clarify your question? And you're welcome :)

yeah you pretty much answered my question lol

I was worried mostly about the police report expiring, but I'll mail it out tomorrow to get a head start on things.

I think that's all the questions I had but I'm sure another will spring to mind.

Thanks again!

you need to send the medicals along with your application. although it is of no use till second step starts. but my agent said like this so i did the way he said. because if you send afterwards your file will go back in the queue as the officers get sometimes annoyed that the file incomplete and we are sending the file. so it is recommended that you send the whole complete package

This all depends on how long the Medical will take, like I said it depends on the time. It takes usually 10-14 days for them to send where I'm at, but there's one that would send it after 4 days. That's why the OP should call around for the DMPs and ask around.

About how long after the documents are sent will they ask for these things?

(roughly, I know it's different for everyone lol)
