Hi TrevorTrevor and Jo said:I think they are doing more of a sister role, and being paid for that extra responsibility, i am sure you are doing both LPN and RN work, what really matters is the registration thing, when you getto Canada, are you going to be an LPN $26 per hr, or RN $36 per hr. Registration is difficult and takes a long time. We are almost a year into the process and we have SEC booked for later this year. We started the process of registration in July 11! You can't work as RN until you have registration and passed CRN exam. So far we have spent £k's on imm advisor, flights/hotel/car hire to Canada for SEC, police checks, IELTS, Immigration fees ect ect. More imm fees due and medicals, then removals, flights, deposits in canada for rental appt/utilities and we have to have to have $20k to show immigration officers. All that before you have a job. This is no small undertaking, and there are no guarantees! PM me for more stuff if you like, hope this puts things into perspective for those contemplating the move. trevor
That's really helpful. I think we've got everything ready to go - just waiting for IELTS and police clearance, both of which should arrive next week, so we'll be ready to send application for 1st July. It says on the form that you can list NOCs in order of preference for consideration, so my reference from my current employer in particular is carefully worded to cover both RN and LPN categories and I plan to put RN first and LPN second.
I don't actually mind working as an LPN in Canada as I only plan on working part time if I can - my husband is a computer whizz and will hopefully be able to find a job fairly easily - it's a fairly specialised job.
I started applying to the CNO in november and I still haven't been told if I am eligible to sit the exam - they advised me to go for LPN in the first instance, which is what I'm doing.
What is SEC? I am pretty rubbish at all these acronyms!
I am lucky in that my parents and siblings live in Canada, and I grew up there - sadly I left to come here to uni and didn't get citizenship or else I wouldn't be in the position I'm in now.
Did you use an immigration lawyer? We've decided not to but hopefully it won't matter. Fingers crossed.
Where in Canada are you heading?
