Any one got any practical advice, seems like most on this site are fairly far down the line
Many thanks

Have your partner apply then, do it ! Its simple if you follow the instructions. Go to the CIC web page and download instruction booklet:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/EG7.pdf

Read the booklet and follow instructions or hire an immigration consultant to do it for you.

Take the points test first to see how you stand. Good luck!

Hi, you seem to know what you are talking about.. so i'll pick your brain. I did the point test and i fall short due to the fact i have no working experience, I have a degree and a masters degree tho, and I have signed up for french evening class to brush up on that, so that i can boost my points that way. My partner is doing a sports degree at the moment and has a year left of that, previously his background is (cnc) engineering code 2232 and he has 6 years working experience, we have been living together for just over 2 years. So far, i think our best plan is to put some cash aside and apply in about 6months or so... Him being the main applicant... how does that sound so far? ha

You have to check if his NOC is included in the 38 FSW list otherwise you have to apply under another category. Have him do the points test. Read the booklet.
