Height of the face in PR photo

Hi folks,

I am applying to sponsor my wife. I just received her photos in the mail today (after 2 whole weeks!) and it turns out that the height of face is 41mm (i.e., chin to crown of head).

The official requirements state that the face should measure between 31mm and 36mm.

How strict are they with this requirement?

I am thinking of two options:
1) I submit my application with these photos as they are and then mail in retaken photos later.
2) I wait the 2 weeks or so it might take for the retaken photos to come in

What do you folks think? My main thought process is that any delay in my application due to incorrect photos might be less than the delay of my wife retaking her pics and mailing them to me.

Thanks.

You could submit your app with the photos as they are, however they are pretty strict about the requirements. At the very least, they will ask you to take them again later in the future. In my case, the delay for having incorrect size photos has been a month now. My app just went to the bottom of the pile, and hasn't been looked at since they requested for the correct photos. So more than a month that they haven't stamped the visa on my passport, nor issued the COPR, just because of those photos. It's up to you whatever you decide.

oh wow I see. I was wondering about the photo's myself. is there a requirement to get them done after receipt of ppr, or can we get them in advance. im curious if they care about the date on the back.

It needs to be taken in the past 6 months prior to submitting them. They can't issue the COPR nor visa if they don't have those photos.

Thank you for taking the time to reply back Juliana.

I am extremely sorry to hear about your delay. Was it also something related to the dimensions in your case?

It looks like I should probably bite the bullet of a 2 week delay right now than experience what you are going through.

Oh okay. =(

I might as well ask you this since you seem to know your stuff: is it okay if my wife sends me her digital photo and I print it out here in Canada? I would have to hand write the info on the back myself instead of the photographer.

Any thoughts?

Yes that would work. Make sure all the sizes are okay though. You can hand write the information on the back, that is fine.

No, I don't think this would work.

Your photos must be:
  • Taken by a commercial photographer.
The back of one photo must include:
  • the name and complete address of the photography studio

Hi Jordo, thank you for your post.

The photo is still going to be taken by a professional photographer. But I am going to get the physical copy printed here in Canada. I am going to hand write the info of the studio on the back myself.

Do you think this will be a problem? It meets all of their requirements.

What you are describing sounds like it doesn't agree with this specification:

Original photos that are not altered in any way or taken from an existing photo.

The photographer's photo is the original. You're talking about scanning it, and creating a copy of it by printing it yourself.

As long as all you do is print it off, it will be okay. Make sure you use the same high quality paper a photographer would use. Another option would be taking the file to a professional photographer so they can print it off there. It is my understanding that your wife will go to get the photos re-taken where she lives, then send you the file the photographer would have of her photos, and then the only thing you have to do is print it off, is that correct? In that case, like I said before, it will be fine. It doesn't matter where the photos are printed off from.

Hi Juliana, i think i have also uploaded digital photo with height of my face greater than 36mm during e application, post ita. I uploaded the exact digital copy i obtained from the photographer, however when viewed on my computer, the head looks bigger than 50mm. The frame and digital dimesions seems okay. The photo hard copies looks ok as well. Do u think this will affect my application? Thanks
