Below you can see the letter they sent me, it actually pisses me off, I was waiting and waiting for a hearing and literally a month ago they send a letter and say “maybe we can consider this under file-review”. I mean whats the point of this? Just give me my hearing instead of postponing it.

The hearing scheduled for September 2025, with respect to the above-mentioned claim for refugee protection has been postponed so that the claim may be reviewed under the Refugee Protection Division’s (RPD) file-review process. This means that the claim may be accepted without a hearing.

If the claim is accepted without a hearing, a Notice of Decision indicating that your claim is accepted will be sent to you. If a hearing is necessary, it will be rescheduled at a later date, and a notice to appear containing the new hearing date and location will be provided to you at that time.

As I read on the forum, most people received their postponed letter and NOD at the same time. But I have received this letter like 2 weeks ago and still there is no update. I am so sick of this situation. :(

If your case is very clear(less complex), they may accept you as a protected person without a full hearing. In that situation, you could receive your NOD within a few weeks. But don’t worry if that doesn’t happen you will be notified about the new hearing date.

congratulations, what was your timeline? when did you submit your claim?
congrats once again
Thank you! I claimed asylum last august, got a less complex case letter in april 2025, got a hearing date for september back in June, then it got cancelled in august and I got a decision without a hearing.

that's relatively fast! I hope we're next lol. because I know someone who also claimed in August and got that eligibility for processing without a hearing and evidence letter in May and they are now waiting. which region are you from if you allow me to ask? we applied from Nova Scotia, not sure if that affects sth though.

ottawa, I think it does!

as in they are faster in Ottawa you mean? because it is relatively same timeline. I think both Ottawa and NS are processed in the eastern region IRB.

It likely depends on the details of your file. Certain people are experts in certain regions/reasons for asylum so processing is often allocated based on the specifics of a case.
