Hi,

I was not born deaf, and started losing my hearing from the age of 22. Today, at 34, I still can manage my daily life with one hearing aid. I may or may not go deaf some day, I am not sure.
My husband and I are planning to apply for Canada PR, but given my hearing loss, would it hamper our chances of getting a PR? I have a Masters in Pharma and work in the communication department (Public Relations), and my husband is a graduate working in the IT field.

Can someone let us know? I understand that we undergo a medical test before the final go ahead - I would need to tell the authorities at that stage of my hearing loss, or later?

there is no hearing test during medicals. you can disclose it during medicals but it wont hamper your PR process.

It definitely won’t have any impact on your PR process. Just disclose it during your medicals. That’s all.

Hi my husband also has same problem he only use hearing aid while in office, but during the medical examination we were not asked about it. Will it be an issue if he has an hearing aid with him during immigration?
Is it required to be declared to customs?
I am the primary applicant and he is a dependent.

If the medical examiner didn’t find an issue, it’s good to go. And wearing a hearing aid is no different from wearing specs. So just chill.

It’s a part of medical physical exam. I just got graded B for hearing loss

But the problem is if it requires surgery like stapedectomy etc, at times a revision surgery is required too.
