Canadian High Commission has announced new changes for students planning to study in CANADA.
Major Changes:
Applicant has to invest CAD 10000 $ in the form of GIC to cover their one year living expenses.
Applicant has to pay one year tuition fee.
Process for Applying for the Scotiabank Student GIC (Guaranteed Investment Certificate) Program
Student Submits the document mentioned below.
Copy of Passport with Signature (First and Last page).
Copy of Letter of Acceptance from a Canadian Institute.
Completed and singed copy of the Scotiabank Student GIC program application form and terms of Conditions. All documents need to be singed by the students.
Student will forward all the documents on newaccounts@scotiabank.com. Scotiabank opens the GIC account for the student and notifies the student to transfer CAD $ 10,050 to the account opened. CAD $ 50 is administrative charges of Scotiabank.
Student has to remit CAD $ 10,050 into the bank, Detail mentioned below.

Scotiabank issues the Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) for CAD $ 10,000 and sends a confirmation mail to the student.
Student will apply for visa with copy of GIC certificate to visa office in India.
After Confirmation of Visa
Student will approach Scotiabank to activate the account after reaching CANADA. Student has to visit bank will all the relevant documents (Original valid passport, Letter of Acceptance from Institute and Welcome Kit send along with GIC certificate). Bank will activate the account the then amount of CAD $ 2000 will be transferred to student’s Deposit account.
The GIC is strictly for living expenses which will be paid out in 5 payments of $2,000 once the student arrives ($2,000 upon arrival and $2,000 every two months thereafter).
