Hi there,

just had a question about healthcare. I know if you are married to a canadian resident they can add you to their healthcare temporarily. I was just wondering, I live in Alberta with my Canadian husband, if he added me to healthcare would that cover the medical expenses for my medical required for sponsorship? I need a new medical done for my sponsorship application and its kind of expensive, so if healthcare would cover it that would be great. So basically I am asking, if he was able to add me to his healthcare could I use my healthcare to go get the medical done for free? If anyone has any info would be great :D thanks!

No - it won't cover these costs. The medical required for sponsorship is a separate service that's not covered by provincial health care plans.

With medical, ask your employer if you can decrease your deductible or get more benefits.
The complaints on "outside" health insurance plans are mind-boggling.
Your best bet is always through your employer.
These outside companies tend to turn you down for covereage and the complaints fill the internet.
