8 simple steps to living healthy and happy
Staying healthy and fit is something that we all need to strive for. It has rightly been said that our health is our wealth. 1) Eat properly: - Proper eating habits will add to the longevity of your life and make you stay away from diseases

There is one thing you need to know about eating properly and that is 'Eating properly is a habit, and like any other habit, it has to be cultivated with discipline'. In other words, many people lack the discipline to stick to a give diet, even if they know that they are destroying their health. Eating a well balanced, rich food is the first step to staying healthy and happy. Some of the common and most deadly diseases and ailments are caused by poor eating habits. 3) Proper Sleep:-Normal sleeping hours for an adult should be 7-8 hours per night
Have enough sleep. A normal adult should sleep about 8 hours per day. A research carried out by the American Cancer Society revealed that those people who don’t have enough sleep are 30% more likely to die early than those who sleep at least 7-8 hours.
4) Less stress: - Stay away from stress
We have just said that you need to have enough sleep, however, you cannot have enough sleep if you are stressed or depressed. Remember stress is the number one enemy to living a healthy life. Stay away from stress. If there is something that bothers you, look for solutions or talk to people who can help. The following are other suggestions on how to stay stress free:
· Meditate and perform yoga
· Organize your finances: poor personal financial management increases tensions in the family and increases stress
· Perform your duties. If you fail to perform your duties as expected; be it at home or at the work place, you are inviting trouble in the form of pressures, and you know pressure is the mother of stress. Stress is the child of a depression.
· Be happy. Don’t be a dull gloomy person. Laugh when you can. Simply be happy. Nothing should keep you sad.
· Keep FEAR away. Fear is the cause of so many anxieties of life, and most of the time many fears are unfounded
· Be organized and methodological
· Take deep breaths when you are facing difficult choices
· If you are not sure of the consequences of your actions, take take your time to examine them
· Have enough rest. Do not overwork yourself.
· Have your moral space. Do not do things or engage in activities that are not in line with your values
5) Do not smoke/drink moderately, if you must
Smokers and heavy drinkers expose themselves to many health risks including cancer, kidney failures and heart diseases. Moderate wine is good for the heart but heavy drinking is bad for your health.
If you are addicted to smoking and drinking, you will have to find a program to break free from the addiction. You can join some groups or organizations, read books, cultivate elf discipline, see an expert for guidance. In short, try a combination of things, because most often one strategy does not work..
6) Avoid Sexually Transmitted diseases.
Practice safe sexual practices. If possible, have one faithful partner. If you feel like you might have contracted a sexually transmitted disease, visit the nearest health clinic for check up and treatment.
7) Water, fruits and Vegetables
Take lots of fruits and vegetables and lots of water (about 8 glasses of water per day). The goals is to keep the body hydrated as much as possible. This is critical for detoxification of the body. Plenty of water in the body will also aid in proper circulation of minerals and nutrients in the body. Remember the body is 60% liquid, so taking plenty f water is essential to good health. Fruits and vegetables will boost your immune system and provide your body with the essential minerals and vitamins.
8) Good relationships with others is essential to good health
Establish good relationship with others. You may get mesmerized how this is connected to your body, but keep in mind that a human being is a social being. Staying withdrawn and being anti-social is not healthy and is not good for your development. There are so many things we can learn room good relationships. Some of our most pressing needs can only be fulfilled by others, otherwise, we may live a life of silent depression. This does not, however, mean that you spend all your time with others. It is good to have private moments with yourself as well. Actually, life is all about balance.
