Hi,
Can someone suggest a good health insurance in Wilmington, DE? I will be a contractor and my wife will be my dependent on TD.

Thank you in advance for your reply.

There are no good health insurance companies. Does your visa status make you eligible for Obamacare? If so, check the exchange.

About 95% of people in Delaware are insured by Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield: https://www.highmarkbcbsde.com/home/ The next most popular is Aetna: https://www.aetna.com/plan-info/individual/health-plans/delaware.html I have no idea whether either is "good." Affordable policies in the U.S. are often "catastrophic" plans, in that there is a high deductible and the plan only pays out in the case of a serious illness or accident.

As links18 suggested, look on the Delaware exchange (https://www.healthinsurance.org/delaware-state-health-insurance-exchange/) to compare plans and to see if you qualify for a subsidy.

TN visa holders should qualify to buy a plan on the Obamacare exchange. Whether or not you get a premium subsidy will depend on your income. As alphazip writes, many "affordable" plans will be high deductible with copays. Obamacare is designed to make healthy young people pay into the system, often for bad coverage, so sick old people don't get denied for pre-existing conditions.

I don't know how long you are staying in the US, but if its not too long and you aren't abandoning Canadian residence during this period, see if a Canadian travel insurance policy might make more sense. Probably won't if you will be working in the US, but worth comparing, if your situation warrants it. Good luck!

I'm on my wife's Sunlife plan. But the thing is it supplemental plan and Im not sure if it will cover outside OHIP area. Also in a month or so she will leave the job and join me as a dependent and the sunlife insurance will not cover

I will check on alphazip links.
