Health insurance for students

Dear Sr . Members

Is it mandatory to take health insurance from guard.me

RRU has sent an email they stating medical insurance from guard.me for first 90 days then BC MSP

I understand BC MSP takes 90 days hence we need Pvt insurance. But guard.me is too overpriced

Any alternatives? Can a university force student to go for a specific company?

You have no choice you have to take it. Also remember to cancel it when you receive MSP otherwise they might continue to milk you.

The school has to prove that international students would not be arriving in Canada without health insurance. Too hard to have everyone do their own policies so everyone is forced to do one. They are also probably required to have a decent live of coverage.

It is up to you to decide whether you want to purchase travel insurance like any other trip.

If you don't take travel insurance you will be charged for any health-related issue that can happen which will amount to a lot. In the end, it's up to you what you want to do. Travel insurance is not very expensive so you might want to look it up.
