Hi ,

Can anyone suggest any good and affordable health insurance for 3 months period in ontario , as we are new immigrants and it will take 3 months to become eligible for public health.

Currently the 3 months is temporarily waived due to covid although you need to verify that this is still the case before your arrival.

Thanks for the info, I checked, currently it is waived so we can apply right away.

one more query, when it becomes effective for us , what happens in the time period in between "we land" and " we get our health card". If we need to go to the doctor in that period , can we claim that once we get our health card ?

Unless there is a serious emergency you can't leave quarantine. If you do need to go to the hospital you'd need to call 911 so they could treat you as potentially covid positive. There would be a special procedure, you couldn't just go to a normal doctor during the quarantine period Yes you should be able to get reimbursed if you show that you have stamped landing documents. You should take out insurance for your travel period from your home country to Canada.
