In vancouver, Do they count exactly 90 days after landing to start your health insurance?

Some say it's the remaining days of the month you land in plus two additional months.. Others say its three months from the day you land..

Here what the Government of B.C. website says: " wait period consisting of the balance of the month in which residence in British Columbia is established, plus two months before benefits can begin."

Any suggestion on the insurance company's name that I can buy from India before landing in Vancouver? Or should I apply for it after coming to Vancouver.

You can private message "haver" for that. He's a insurance broker.

If coming to land in Vancouver as a PR and stay here permanently, then you should get your temporary insurance from a Canadian company. Imagine if you need to make a claim, how difficult it will be mailing receipts and dealing with an insurance company in India. Also an Indian insurer may expect you to return back to India if you get sick to continue treatments and for them to pay you anything.

There are many online brokers you can shop and choose a visitors-to-Canada policy while waiting for provincial healthcare to kick in. Here is a site we used and had no problems: https://www.kanetix.ca/travel-visitors-to-canada

You can arrange a travel accident and emergency insurance in your home country before you go if you are confident that they will be easy to deal with if you have a claim. Otherwise, just get a 1 week insurance from your home country and use that week to arrange insurance in Canada. You do not want to end up with thousands of $ in health care bills because you end up having an accident or an emergency illness before having had the time to arrange insurance.

You can purchase insurance from a Canadian company entirely online, before arriving in Canada.

Must be very careful about purchasing insurance from a company outside Canada. Many will expect you are really just "visiting" Canada, not moving there permanently. Many insurers will insist you return back to your home country if any serious conditions involving treatment are involved, since typically the costs will be cheaper for them from home country. And if any issues were to arise in Canada while on home country's insurance, you couldn't get Canadian insurance to take over since it would then be a pre-existing condition.

You will not qualify for provincial coverage in Ontario for the first 3 months, so you should obtain some sort of emergency coverage during that time.

You should use online brokers' website for this purpose. They give you list of the companies you can choose from and also, do everything online, so you do not have to be in Canada to get your health coverage
