Hi
I was wondering what parts are covered in a general health care insurance in Ontario?
Do they cover dental and emergency as well or is it only general?

Thanks

Emergencies are covered.

Dental is not.

Thanks Scylla

Any other links to get detailed informations, that will be grate !!! :)

Thanks again.

Just visit the official OHIP web site. Information on what is covered and not covered is provided there in detail - plus other good information such as who qualifies for OHIP, etc.

There are some services that OHIP does not pay for. These are services that are not medically needed, such as cosmetic surgery.

For some treatments, OHIP pays part of the cost. For example:

* Some services from your doctor, podiatrists, chiropractors and osteopaths
* Physiotherapy treatments
* Dental services in hospitals
* Eye tests
* Travel costs: if you live in northern Ontario and must travel long distances for specialty medical care, OHIP may pay some travel costs.

You can buy dental plan online which is different for different provinces. As usual if it is just dental coveage, it starts on 1st day of the next month. In case of health and dental coverage you may wait for medical underwriting. If you are working the policy premium is tax-deductible.

Thank you, for answering. But this method works for me only with in all other cases I get only strange results, like those below :lol:

So this means for dental we require another plan it does not include in health insurance. Can you tell me which treatment considered in health insurance. And which are the best policy for health insurance. :)

It is very common for employers to have a group policy without having the option to opt out. If you already bought your own policy, I think it is likely that you would either have to wait a few months for it to kick in or you would have to make a contract to stay in it for a certain amount of time. It wouldn't make any sense for them to let you take out a policy, get all your dental done right away and then cancel it, they wouldn't make any money that way.

On the other hand, once you are working, you will probably have insurance through your employer that includes dental, medication and other things and you will have to pay for it as well (no opt-out) so you might as well wait until you have a job.

I visited OHIP web site, There is many articles and answers regarding your question, Hope you will satisfy to visit that web site.. If you want to know more then feel free to ask.
