Sorry to disappoint you,it doesn't cover you till you get your health card. You might want to explore other alternatives.

Immigrants are covered in Alberta from date of "landing" There is no 3 month waiting period.

Hi,
thank you both for your responce, but still a bit confused even looking on the canadian immergration website there still seem's to be both schools of thought this is the problem I seem to be having. Is there anyone who can copy a link to where the information is on that web site so I can clear it up for myself sorry to be a pain but can't quite work it out for myself I have tried even searching this web site.

Many thanks

You are covered from day 1 in AB and you get your health card very fast but if you must see a doctor before you get it, keep your receipt. When you get your card, mail your receipt to AB health along with your card number, stating that you want a refund of your costs.

You can contact AB health if you have any concerns:

I have heard that Access Allinces also provides us our health care till we get our health Card so i am planning to be its member and have booked an appointment for 13th July..do you think its my good decision or would it be better to change my mind of using its service...?

It looks to me like a charity. Looks like they are in Ontario too and not in Alberta. There is no need for something like this in AB because you really are covered from day 1. In Ontario, you have to wait 3 months to get your health card. If you are going to Ontario, I would still buy an accident and emergency insurance and hope that is enough for the 3 months waiting time. I would not use a charity unless I really needed to. Leave those resources for the people who really need it.
