I just measured my Partner's photos (which I brought home with me from my last trip to see him) for our Conjugal Partner application, and everything is right except his head from chin to crown is 35mm and not between 25-30mm as stated.

This will be a problem right?

I will ask him to get new ones, but he has already done his medical in the Philippines and they asked for the photos. He didn't have all the photos (because I took them.. oops) but I think he had one or two extra that he attached. They told him to tell me to attach the photos myself once I got his medical papers.
However.. when he got his medical done (Philippines) did they already send a copy to the Embassy? Do they already have one with that giant-head picture? :-X

I think it would not be so much expensive to get the correct pictures taken in Manila or in other cities in Philippines. it would be wise to keep correct photos according to the specification in order to get it fitted properly in the CIC system. Otherwise the delay in finalizing would be the result. The correct size photo will be necessary for COPR which will be considered fro PR Card processing also.

Hi StephC,

According to my knowledge Filipinos are very talented in photography and graphics work. If you give a straight face photo print there may be people to get it fixed. Try.

To resurrect this topic:

He sent me some new photos in the mail. But the head was still 35mm and not between 25-30mm. I thought, never mind because I went to the Philippines for Christmas and could take him to the photographer and be very specific.

We went to the photographer in the SM in Davao City. She had the instruction sheet already and she took the photo. I showed her the old (wrong) one and explained the need for the head to be the correct size.. I even used my ruler as a demonstration. However, when we picked up the photo I measured the head inside the photo and it was still 35mm.

Then we had a discussion. She said "Maybe it's ok." I said "Maybe it's not ok. It needs to be no more then 30mm, and you can even compare it to the photo example in the sheet because it is to scale. Then she said, it's up to her software.. and depends on the chin size!! (What??) Apparently Canadian Visa is a setting in their computer which cannot be altered. It turned out that there was no way that she could scale the photo so that the head would be the size I wanted. She said that she takes tons of photos for new Canadian immigrants all using this software and they have all been ok.

What do you think? I have software in my laptop that can scale it to any size I like. I took some head shots myself with my digital SLR.

Right :D

But do you think it will be ok? I'm not one to let 5mm slide by the wayside, but the lady said everyone's pictures are like that. He said it's because he doesn't have the typical Filipino head shape??? I guess it's more oval :-\

Everyone can stick to the specifications, you should too.
"everyone's pictures are like that", that statement is BS.

I don't know about the actual application photos in terms of how strict they are, but I have read that they are very strict regarding the photos used for the PR card issued after landing. Just something to keep in mind - don't go back to the same photographer for those photos later on!

Don't they use the exact same photo for the PR card?

Hmm, "Filipino head shape" indeed - Guess what, there are lots of people that get their pictures produced to the specification and are granted PR.
In all those applicants, you can bet there are plenty from the Philippines who got the photo printed properly.

hi, im frm the Phils. got my immigation photos done back when i was applyng for my own PR and now we got hubby's immigration photos done here in the phils with no problem, and it fits the specified size. its not that hard. u just picked the wrong photographer.

cic is strict with pictures especially that they will use that for the pr card, if the head is too big it will overlap with the signature below the photo as it appears on the pr card.

for our medicals, the dmp asked for passport sizes photo and not the immigration size. although same in photo paper size, the head is larger for passport size.

davao CITY is a metropolis area in the Phils. They just went to the wrong photographer. You dont have to be so rude with ur comments, judging the OP 's husband to have meningitis or living in wilderness. Even calling out child abuse in the other thread.
