Hi, so im a live in care giver about to apply for pr on june. Im still single but planning to get marry next year. So i know i need to add my husband on my submitted application and inform cic as soon as i change my status.
Now, my problem is this. All this time i thought that the 39 months of processing the 2 years under LCP is included. So its not. So i just realized that my husband and i have to wait for 39 months for our PR. I also thought that i only need to wait 4-11months for him to be here in canada. I was expecting too much.
So can somebody help me to clear things up about applying for your spouse?like the timeline in connection with my status as LCP about to apply for pr planning to get married next year.

Hi

This part of the forum is for Canadian citizens or PRs who are sponsoring their family members.

Post your query in the Foreign Workers section http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/foreign-workers-b10.0/

It sounds as though you understand everything quite clearly, at least now you do. What do you mean "about applying for your spouse"? You will add him to your application once your status changes, as you have stated. What exactly is your question?

Unfortunately, your English is a little hard to understand. However, the process is this...

1) You apply for PR based on your participation in the LCP for the two years required to qualify.

2a) Your spouse is YOUR dependent in your application IF you are married when you apply.
or
2b) You add your spouse as YOUR dependent to your application WHILE the application is still being processed, as soon as you marry.

3) You and your spouse are granted a PR visa and COPR document if your application is approved.

4) You "land" to activate your PR status, either at the same time, or you "land" first, with your spouse following on as soon as possible.

The time taken to complete steps 1 to 3 depends on the Visa Office. Step 4 is up to you, but must be done before the visas expire. If you don't complete either step 2a or 2b, your spouse will never be able to be sponsored by you.

Yes, they do. It can be difficult and/or stressful on the relationship at times, but they do.
