Having both visitor and work visa in passport. Possible?

Please help if somebody has an idea about the following questions???

1. If someone currently has the 5-year canadian visitor visa and gets the temporary work visa as a new visa, is the visitor visa still valid after getting the temporary work visa?

2. Is it possible for someone who has applied for work visa to go to Canada with the visitor visa before the work visa is coming and when CIC asks for passport request, send the passport from INSIDE canada?
