Having a baby during work permit, but extending my visa as visitor

Hi There,

we had a open work permit for last 3 years, unfortunately couldn't extend my work permit, finally we decided to go back home.
my wife currently pregnant and due date is 1st week of June, but our work permit expiring June last week, we are thinking to Re-store our status as visitor after that??????????

My question is: 1. Is there any problem aeries to apply for my baby boy documents, when we are going to be in visitor visa status?
2. what are the documents i need to apply for my baby boy, before i leave Canada????

If i get a extension as a visitor, do i still need to cross the border and get back into Canada again? I can't cross USA border, because i don't have my visa there? pls help me to figure my situation??????
