Have to leave Canada soon but PR card has not arrived [NEED HELP]

Hi everyone,

I know it is not recommended to go outside Canada when PR card is not arrived but this is quite important for us and we need to go Vietnam on Jan 15, 2019 for family stuffs.

Our application for family sponsorship was Inland and my wife got her COPR since November 5, 2018. The agent told us that the card will arrive approx 2months so we hope it will arrive by Jan 5, 2019. So we booked our flight tickets to Vietnam for Jan 15, 2019 but until now, we are kinda worried because of the Canada Post strikes which might affect the mail delivery delay.

My question is, if the PR card for my wife is not arrive by Jan, 2019. Is there any other way we can apply for the one-time re-entry to Canada before we left to Vietnam on Jan 15?

Google PRTD (permanent resident travel document), which you should apply to the minute you get to Vietnam if you are planning on staying there a few weeks and did not receive your PR card by then.

You cannot apply for a PRTD while in Canada. You must wait until you are outside of Canada to apply.

You can apply through this agent https://www.vfsglobal.ca/canada/vietnam/how_to_apply.html , one of my friends have gotten PRTD from them. I think you can apply in Hochiminh city and Hanoi only.
