Hello,

I have a friend who is worked at a coaching instutute for almost 6 yrs. Then 2 yrs ago he stopped working and started giving private coachings to students at home.

Now he is applying for Express entry but not sure if his currently non-working status will effect the application?

What should he do?? Can he go for applying with past experience while explaning the scenario in the letter of explanation? Will it effect his PR file, he he currently scores 472 if he submits his profile.

Plz any help or suggestion is appreciated.

There is a requirement of 1 year continuous work within last 10 years. Also 3 years will give maximum possible points for foreign (outside Canada) work experience.
There shouldn't be a problem.

Thank you very much.
So he can just show his past experience and simply say not working in PR File? As saying coaching privately will be a self employment and it could lead to many other things like showing fees slips or other stuff that will be difficult to arrange.

Yes. Could just show previous experience with a relevant certificate including duties, weekly hours, net annual pay and job title.
Self employed have to show too many things.
Make sure they have good funds, enough to cover proof of funds and fees to show to IRCC after ITA.

Okay.. thank you very much we really appreciate your help.

Self-employment should go to the personal history section as there should be no gaps there. No need to provide proof for personal history.
For points, claim only the employment for which you can provide sufficient proof (i.e. Canadian-format employment letter, etc).
