Hi!

I need advice.

I applied for EE in Dec'15 and got an invite for OINP. I applied for OINP as individual applicant in Jan'16. Finally, after a waiting period of 1 year, I have got acceptance from OINP. CIC has invited me to apply for PR. I have got 90 days to apply. However, I was planning to get married in Feb'17.

Now, I am confused. Should I wait till the time I get married and intimate CIC that I am married and give them details of my spouse? or should I file for PR as individual applicant and then later on file for a spouse dependent visa for my husband? That will take an entire year and I don't want to live in Canada alone alone till the time my spouse get the visa.

Also, Can I wait in my own country till the time my spouse get dependent visa?

Thanks
Vin

I am in the same boat though. Applied in Nov 2016, yet to get PNP or ITA. Planning on getting married around June. Do update us about your scenario.

Good luck.

Congratulations!!

What I personally understand is you can still submit your application and when you get a passport request (PPR) you can inform them of the marriage and send back your COPR and passport with your spouse's medical exam results and police certificate(s) (PCC)

you can get married after you submit your e-APR but make sure to inform CIC as soon as possible. http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/what-if-status-changes-to-married-after-ita-t403478.0.html;msg5045755#msg5045755

Get married anytime AFTER you submit your post ITA application, that avoids recalculation of points. In your case, that shouldn't necessarily be a challenge as you have 600 additional points and will anyway qualify for your ITA but your base CRS score would also be recalculated and if that falls below 400 on recalculation, you could be in trouble. Getting married AFTER post ITA application helps avoid these scenarios.

After getting married, raise a CSE to inform IRCC about change in family circumstances along with proof of marriage. IRCC will send you further instructions on how to add your spouse to the current application itself and you'll both get PR together.

All the best!

hi asivad,
I am an OINP nominated and will recieve ITA soon. I am planning to marry from 4-5 months from now wen my bf comes to our home country. My bf lives in Finland right now, studying and he has been living there for more than 2yrs now. Is there any thing different I need to do?And when I submit his police certificate, do we need to provide it of Finland or of home country???
thank you in advance

In this case, would he need to have met the fund requirement for two people at the time of his original eAPR?

Nothing different. Just inform IRCC as soon as possible after getting married.

He will need PCCs from Finland and any other country where he has lived for 6 months or more since turning 18.
