so there is the question ;D
is anyone apply over 6months extension?
im currently in canada, my visitor visa expires in april(6months visa), so in march i have to apply extension.
my b/f will sponsor me, so i want to be here as long as its possible...i came october from europe and i didn need apply visa before i get here.
have anyone get around 8-9months visa?
i can prove my b/f will support me, bank statement etc...will i tell them that i will apply extension cause i want my b/f to sponsor me after we have live together one year. we are thinking apply it outland. so i need to still prove that i will leave when visa expires..i dont have job in my home country, but i hope family reasons are enough them.

second question is, i have visitor record on my passport. it says i cant re-entry. so if i leave country, i can not re-entry with that visa. i know. but, cause im from country where i dont need to apply visitor visa until in port of entry, what you think, can i travel to mexico with my b/f? his company will pay my flights etc and i still would have my return ticket to home. i know that visa expires when i leave. but can i come back and "apply" new visa when i have arrived to canada? can it be longer than this one now? 6months from the day i arrive?or would it be same day as it is now?
have anyone done this? i know there is multiple-entry visa, but i really dont need it, i would travel just this one time. and then try to stay here so my b/f can sponsor me....

Thanks alot! have a nice day! :p

Since you should/can not work on a visitor visa, you won't be able to get a SIN. One forum member was granted a year of visitor visa extension.

I think when you leave Canada, you have to surrender the visitor record. It is not a visa you have because a visa is obtained from a Canadian Consulate/visa office outside Canada and it is pasted on your passport. Theoretically, you are given another 6 months when you leave and then enter Canada again (since you are from a "visa-free" country) but you were given a visitor record the last time, so you may have "triggered" something :) You should have a better reason than "try to stay here so my b/f can sponsor me...."

You can get an ON driver's license. Get an official translated photocopy of your driver's license from the embassy/consulate of your home country first - it'll help.

thank you so much! all this information helps me alot!

i think i wont leave the country :D its easier to stay here :D i have time to travel all my life.
can i apply enxtension to my visa many times? or do you think its better when i travel to my home country sometimes,
stay there two weeks to month and come back. i hate to speak with the immigration officers, they are so rude and i get
really nervous :(
i can still apply extension, even if i have visitor record?

i can tell family reasons to extensios as well, my stepfather is canadian and they are coming here at springtime with my mom,so
i want to stay here with them.

Yes you can apply many times. But there is actually no guarantee you'll be granted extensions. But you would be in implied status when you do apply, until you hear from CPC-V. One forum member was granted a year extension even when he said he only requested for 6 months. You could get lucky too. We never know. All the best.

This happened to me as well! I arrived in Canada in the beginning of December 2008, the IO at Pearson Airport gave me a 6-month stay (until the beginning of June 2009). In the beginning of May I applied for extension (asking for more 6 months, until beginning of December) and in mid-August received the answer saying my extension was given until mid-August 2010. Much more than I needed!

But when I applied for extension my sponsorship was already being processed at the Visa Office.

Well, my reason for asking for a renewal was "I want to spend more time with my wife," and I'm the guy who got a 1 year extension despite asking for 6 months, so I'm not so sure that that's a bad reason...

did you actually mention 6 months extension and they granted you a year? or it is possible to mention one year right away?

I specifically asked for 6 months and got a year anyway. You can ask for a year, but there are no guarantees that you will get a year, or any extension at all.
