Unfortunately that desire to help you do things 'better' increases when they land in 'your world'. There was a lot of back and forth about what is unreasonable criticism and what is helpful. And serious discussion around the idea of 'sometimes it's better to be kind than right'. It felt like my husband would just shadow me around the apartment waiting for 'teachable moments'. I think he just needed to feel like he knew something I didn't know and could help me learn so that it wasn't just me constantly teaching him new things. Admittedly he was also bored so had nothing better to do than follow me around haha. I haaaaate being criticized and told what to do as well so these were not my finest moments. Being able to talk to some women who have been through it helped. They were just like 'Oh the critical stage, yeah, been there...it fades. The power struggles...yep, totally normal.'

So yeah, both sides need to watch their know-it-all tendencies...and recognize that it's gonna happen anyway and try to roll with it.

Where's your husband from? Does he know anybody in Toronto (besides you obviously!)?

: ) These are all very good points for me. It will help too when I go down there to stay for an extended period of time.
He is from a small town near Santa Clara. He knows lots of people from around Toronto. I do not think he has any close friends from Cuba that have come here, but knows of people. He works at a resort so there are a lot of older couples that go to his resort several times a year...they know him and the other staff well and bring them stuff and often send them text messages etc. He will prolly want to get in touch with them when he arrives. And then there are my friends and family that communicate with him. But I will make sure he finds a way to get in touch with the Cubans he knows of too. I will ask him to start now to get their contact info etc.

I read earlier that people have used Caribbean Transfers to send money before.
I am thinking of sending my hubby some money for his birthday ( as it will take to long to actually mail a gift and I should have gotten on it much sooner). I have never had to send or give him money before so I am not sure how this works. How long does the transfer take? Also I see they have a "supermarket" : ) Anyone actually sent beer or chicken to their families?! I am assuming that is what the supermarket is for

I have never had to send or give him money before so I am not sure how this works. How long does the transfer take? Also I see they have a "supermarket" : ) Anyone actually sent beer or chicken to their families?! I am assuming that is what the supermarket is for

hey Sassy!! Caribbean Transfers works great! Starting an account is a pain because you have to sign up then fax them a copy of both sides of your drivers license (or other ID) and same for your credit card. Once thats done, Transfers are done in less than a day (in business hours)! Pretty easy to use! I havent sent actual food because it seems like they only deliver certain items within Havana. I know holguin isnt possible anyways. I have however, sent my mother in law mattress this way and sent many gift baskets with chocolates, teddy bears, and other things for things like mothers day or valentines day! Things that wont go bad in transfer pretty much!

Awww she does! Im realllly close with his fam, just like he is with mine! SHe's in her 60's and she was sleeping on a terrible mattress so I got her one last year! It's changed her life! lol My hubby's was terrrrible too so my parents got him a new one for his bday! Which is awesome, because I benefit when Im there! lol

I use CT all the time and love it.......my husband lives in Matanzas so he can get many things....not as many as Havana but pretty good selection! It also has the double top up at times.

I have a question regarding the whole Visa change Jan 14th. Lets say we get our visa and everything by then, Do we not have to do a PVE/PRE to land if the landing date is after this Jan 14th date? I'm still hoping to bring him back with me Jan 3rd and pay the 550 to do it, but if we have a later date would all this be avoided?

Alright so something really interesting just happened I registered on the site, followed the link from my email. it said I was now registered with their site. In the top righthand corner of the site was my email addy...showing I was signed in. Then I clicked on the info link...and the site turned to spanish...with someone elses email embrasilnow@yahoo.com listed in the righthand corner?!? Weird!
I logged out and logged back in in another tab and it is now saying my email addy. But that was weird. And now I see this message:

Hmmm just sharing with you guys....not expecting you to speculate what happend
