Hello everyone,

My spouse and I are going through Family Class Sponsorship. Our application was received January 2019 by office in Sydney. MyCIC progress bar displaying 8 months remaining and the office is still working on review of eligibility, we have NOT been asked to do medical exam, provide biometrics, or be interviewed yet.

With the services in Havana office being suspended as at May 8, 2019 I feel that we are left with a lot of uncertainty about how the rest of the process will move forward. I've created this thread for all Cubans going through this and/or similar process, and for people to share their experiences and any tips.

My understanding is that we are now to do biometrics, interview and medical exams outside of Cuba through Mexico City Office. Does anyone know how to go about the process of getting a Visa to Mexico for Cubans? Is a Visa to Mexico necessary for those going through the PR process? I heard this can be challenging. Do these rules of going through Mexico apply to new applications submitted May 8, 2019 and later or for all applications being currently processed? For Biometrics can the Applicant go to another country that doesn't need Visa (Biometrics are to be submitted within 30 days...)? What if Mexico does not grant the Visa?

I look forward to your replies! Thank you all in advance! :)

Try the Havana thread. This topic is already being discussed there.
