Hi, if anyone got his Study Permit extended recently, could you please post dates when you applied and when you got the approval?

My wife applied online on February 11, 2016 and got approval on February 23, 2016. Just make sure you have all supporting documents so that they can process fast.

It takes around 2-3 months to get it done recently due to so many application was stuck last year.

Do we need a medical exam for extension? Cause it was a required document for me when I applied for extension, but it still hadn't passed one year since my last exam. But I didnt have the proof besides the receipt, so I attached just a receipt

No you do not need medical exam for SP extension unless you never done it since you came to Canada (It's not possible because they would never issue you SP without medical exam). Or you might be requested to take it again if you have marked that you have left Canada and live in others country more than 6 months.

I didn't mark that I left Canada and lived in others country more than 6 months, but it still showed me at the end that I need to provide proof of medical exam. During the online wizzard there was a question - "have you performed a medical exam during the last 12 month?" It always asks you this question, no matter what option do you choose.... So I just attached a receipt.

Click 'No' to that question, the second question will be, 'Have you ever been to some designated countries for more than 6 months?', select 'No' again.

Why would I click no to the first question if I should click "Yes"? It hasn't been 12 month since I've completed my medical exam. I did it at the end of May last year. So there is no way I should click "No" for this question. And that's why it asks me for proof of medical exam

He's right. click no to that question and they wont ask you for the medical exam again. that's what I and my friends did all the time when we applied for ST extension. But how do you have to extend your SP after not even 1 year. Usually CIC only issues SP after medical exam has done. It confuses me that your SP is only valid for less than 1 year.

I can't click "No" to that question! Cause then it would be a false information. I did my medical at the end of May 2015, so it's less than a year ago....My Permit is valid from August 2015 to July 2016, because I have a one year program which lasts from September 2015 to May 2016. I don't understand what so strange about it since tons of students have a one year program.

Why do you need SP extension while you are about to graduate? you are supposed to apply for a post graduate work permit instead. Or are you planning to get another program?

I changed my program once I arrived to a longer one. Within the same institution

Then I guess your SP expired at the end of July, Isn't it? Do you mind to share the specific dates? You can only extend your SP within 3 months before it get expired. Therefore, you can wait till your last medical test is over 1 year then apply for the new one and mark the question as No. You will have 3 months before the new semester starts in September to get a new one. If you are worried too much, you can take the receipt to the hospital test center for more detail or needed documents to submit.

Where exactly does it say that we can only extend it 3 month before it gets expired? There is no such information anywhere. It only applies to students who enter a completely new institution or start completely different program from next semester (which is not my case since I am already actively pursuing my studies....). For SP extension it only says apply at least 30 days before the expiry date.
And my hospital test center (the one I did my medical exam) is 15 hours flight from Toronto, so something tells me that it's not that easy just to take my receipt there...Anyways I had already submitted my application. All I wanted to find out initially is if attaching just a receipt would be fine or not. Cause I assume they have all the information in their database anyways, so they can easily look up whatever they want
