My AOR email mentioned an "application number" in the format A123456789. Is that the same as the "file number"?

Well you need file number to order your GCMS notes. If your file is already in process, you can call helping and ask them for your file number

I received my GCMS notes. But in SECURITY section soem information is hidden. Is this normal? And i do not see if my urgent request was reviewed or not. Anybody?

Which option do we use when requesting gcms, privacy act or personal information?

If you are requesting your own information, you can so it under privacy Act if you are currently present in Canada.

If you have family member in your application, you will need a consent form signed by them irrespective of whether you request your GCMS notes under the Privacy act of Accesss to Information act.

The consent form is available at https://www.canada.ca/content/dam/ircc/migration/ircc/english/pdf/kits/forms/imm5744e.pdf which you will have to submit.

Does IRCC abide by due dates shown on GCMS notes or are they mostly for show?

The due dates on the GCMS notes are system generated dates and most application either are processed way before it, or keep pending way past it.

They usually work as a reminder to the officer who has carriage of your file, but are of not much significance.

Security is always redacted in the GCMS notes, unless your requested the GCMS notes from CBSA, then in some case the security related information may be available.

To read on security, how it is done and the security screening manual see https://bit.ly/3apWglN

To read on redactions under s15 / 16 see https://bit.ly/3t24w3d

To read the details on how redactions and exemptions are taken, see https://www.canada.ca/en/treasury-b...ormation/access-information-manual.html#cha11

Wouldn't put much emphasis on the due dates and expect activity or progress to happen by that date; related activities can happen before the due date and at times well after.

Hi all,

I want to obtain GCMS notes on my citizenship application.
When I submit this ATIP request, which of the following option should I choose?

"Status update of file/Reasons for Refusal/Officer's Electronic notes"

or

"The application, supporting documents and correspondences sent to and/or from IRCC"

I believe it should be the first one "Status update of file..." but want to seek a confirmation before submitting the request.

Kindly advise.
