Question - Has anyone been asked for a passport and been rejected?

My husband sent his passport to the Guatamela embassy last January (because they asked for it) and they still havent given him his PR yet..has anyone heard of someone giving their passport and not being granted residency?

Not from my own experience but I read a while back that some Visa Offices do ask for PP upon issuance of AOR and they still reject the application for whatever reason/s.

It's just a strange, unpredictable system that no one can give definite answers to. I am sorry you have to go through the wait with no proper answers.

Have you any bland idea what could be the reason/s for such long delay?

Have you contacted them about getting the passport back? Are you positive that they still have it and havn't sent it back to you??? Sometimes the mail man don't do their jobs properly. One of friends sent his passport to get the visa stamped and they lost his passport, and after a while they found it and mailed it back to him. Its scary but happens. I would definately contact them to find out about the update on that if you don't already know it. Good Luck!

Yes I am positive they have it, we are waiting for my husband's criminal record check. Apparently they rejected the fingerprints the first time and didnt tell us, so we were waiting for nothing until i had my MP contact immigration, and then we had to re-do his fingerprints and re-send. As far as I know that's the only thing we're waiting for. I figured the passport and request for the crim record check was a good thing...right?

To me it sound like a good thing. I would suspect that they are ready tp grant PR depending on the outcome of the CR check. I am no expert of courese just an eternal optimist. My husband sent his passport in last month with all of our original documents, so I am also hoping this means good news.

Good luck and I hope you hear back soon. Wouldn't it be nice to spend christmas with your loved one!!!

Thank you for your optimism! It would be sooo nice to him in Canada for christmas, however they say it takes up to 120 days to get the crim record check, and on top of that his medicals have expired :( so he might end up having to re-do them... so i dont think he'll be back by christmas, but i sure hope so!

I know New Dehli asks for it early in the process from posts I've seen and from people in the July thread.
We also have someone who is going thru Guatemala City, who had theirs requested as well, a week or so after getting their AOR.

Acknowledgment of Receipt- you'd get one from Guatemala in this case. Saying they got your file, ect.

oh ok thankyou

so has no one been rejected when asked for passport?

I'm not sure on that, but I have to imagine it has happened in those cases where they ask for it so soon. It seems impossible that they'd have processed the file in a matter of a week but held onto the passport and case. Hopefully someone who has a better answer can come along. GL!

Hi MrsCasanova,

I just wanted to let you know that we got word today that my husband has been approved and they are sending out his PR visa soon. It only took three weeks after all the extra requested documents were sent and recieved in Quatemala. So just think after all the checks and fingerprints come back it may not take too long after that to get some good news.

keep me posted and i will do the same.

Good luck!

really! that gives me hope! thank you so much! i'll definitly keep you posted, congrats on ur visa!

:) Congrats!!! that gives me hopes too!
