I know that you can apply to sponsor if you reside outside of canada. but my residence is in canada and I am here visiting my wife on a family visiting visa. I want to stay here with her untill her sponsorship is approved. Im not sure what to write on my application for the address, should it be my address in canada or in china that im staying with her at. also should I put that im currently living with my spouce because I live in canada but im visiting another country. im very confused

How long are you planning to stay in China? If it is over 6 months, you can definitely state your residential address is the one in China. You could use your address in Canada, too - you will be considered a Canadian resident for tax purposes. But the only benefit of stating your residence is in Canada is that you then won't have to prove you will go back to Canada. But when the visa officer is assessing the application 14 months from now (or whenever), and sees that you have been in China the whole time, but claiming your residence is Canada, they will most likely ask for proof you are going back to Canada anyhow.
You can use the fact that you are on a family-visiting visa as part of the proof you will go back to Canada.

I would use the address you are actually living at as your residential address, never mind what type of visa you have. You can always attach a letter to that section of the forms, explaining your situation in more detail: you could state that your permanent residence is ___ in Canada, but that you have been on a family-visiting visa since ____ in China and staying with your wife, so you put your residential address as the one in China.

Definitely put that you are living with your spouse. For one thing, you have a short relationship, so any proof you have that you are cohabiting should be emphasized. Any time that you two have stayed together should be mentioned on the forms, even if it was just a short visit.

Many forum members have spent 6 months or longer in Canada as a 'visitor', but have used their sponosr's address as their residential address. They have reported no problems with doing this. If you use your wife's address as your residential address, you will be doing the same thing, just in reverse.

If you do decide to use your Canadian address as your residential address, make sure you make it very clear to the visa officer that you are actually in China living with your wife.

If I were you, I would state that my residential address is where I am living in China. You can include a letter attached to that form, explaining the situation in more detail, though I don't think it is necessary.

State the address she is actually living at with you. The hukou being a different address is a problem that should be addressed in the application. So get proof that she is not living with her sister any more, and is living with you at ____. Things like: an affidavit from the sister stating your wife is not living there now; an affidavit from your current landlord stating that the two of you are living there; a copy of the lease - if both your names are on it, great, but if only her name is on it, at least it shows she is not living with her sister anymore.
I suggest you also get letters of support from relatives and friends, stating that your relationship is genuine. In these letters they can include that they know you and your wife are living together at ____.

I only know things about immigration because when my own husband applied, and was rejected, I started to research immigration. One thing that taught me a lot was reading about immigration appeal cases on Reflex and CanLii:

http://www.iijcan.org/en/ca/irb/index.html

I definitely wish I knew about this forum before I applied!

your husband was rejected? why was he rejected? im a little bit worried now I thought it was hard to be rejected if it was a true relationship or that before rejecting the application they would at least ask you to provide more evidence.

My husband is Nigeria, and Nigerians go through the Accra, Ghana office, which in my opinion is one of the worst in the world. Applications take more than a year there, and about 50% are rejected. I am sure if we had applied through a different country, he would have been accepted.
That said, we really did not submit enough evidence. What we had would have been enough for a straightforward case from the 'first world', but it was not enough for a mixed-race couple applying through Accra. That is why I wish I had known about this forum before I applied - I would have known better about how much evidence to send and what kind.
Appeals take about a year to be heard; sometimes much longer, depending on the office.
