My 2 Cents worth:

AOR = Acknowledge of receipt. It does not mean that what u have claimed has been accepted. I have also claimed 16 points and I received an AOR within 2 Weeks. And I know that when I receive the Document Updates, I will still need to prove what I have claimed.

The "Palaver" will start @ the Visa office (IO will decide).

No, thats fine. I do understand that AOR is just an acknowledgement. But I was just wondering that they may not even issue an acknowledgement if theres no official language test score. Thanks for reply both of you ^

I claimed the highest score in language proficiency even though not taking yet the IELTS and I received an AOR. After I received my AOR, they asked me to take IELTS. It should not be a problem.

Please could you tell me how did they ask you to take IELTS after you received the AOR? Was it before they sent you the 120 days letter?

Hi,

Yes I did.

I applied in January...... In March some more documents demanded, but not language proficiency proof and I did not provide any proof at the submission of application while I claimed 16 points. Required documents submitted in April. In June, I got a letter saying that ur application is in process since 01 Feb..... I applied before Feb 2008. But now I am ready to provide proof, if they ask me to do so.

Thanks for your reply but I forgot to mention my question was only for those who submitted their documents after the new rules and the 38-list came out.

adnan,

remember that the IO will assess your application based on the documents you send to your visa office.

you can only submit documents in 1 package and they will not allow updates except for specific reasons in the AOR.

if you submit your documents without your IELTS and you can still claim 67 then fine, you have a possibility of getting approved without taking the IELTS.

but if you can not reach the 67 points without the IELTs they will return your application with a denial.

because i am certain that the IO will give you 0 points for english proficiency without the IELTS.

good luck! and good morning/afternoon/evening.

well, most of us are hoping that they will come back and ask for the IELTS if they feel you should do it. I guess no one knows what happens with the new rules.

Even if you have 67 points without IELTS and you get 0 for language proficiency, I think they may deny a person (I am guessing), because they want at least 6 points for first language I think. Remember they say that an applicant can get maximum 2 points in the low proficiency score (i.e. two 1-points in the 4 category).

That i think is 100% true. You can even be denied ( for one reason or the other) if you have 99points, I think.

I also think the minimum one should have is 6 Points(as Rupesh mentioned):
And, (I am purely Guessing): If one looks @ the changes that have been made to the scoring system i.e Listening has been upgraded to 7.5 then,

Listening will definitely require minimum moderate i.e 2 points on the IELTS scoring system.

Proof of language proficiency ( IELTS ) is required for your application to be considered complete, otherwise it will be returned to you.
Even if your native language is English or French, you still need to provide a letter attesting to
this fact.
