Hi,
I have a work permit and came to canada in October. My wife and kid arrived later after a month. Initially they had visa till March 16th (4 months validity) while I had it till April. My wife requested for extension of visa at the immigration at port of entry and she was granted till May (6 months flat validity). The extension info was hand written and she did not get a visitor record for that. The officer has stricked out (crossed out) the original visa as well. We went to apply for OHIP, but it was rejected for my wife and kid stating there was no visa/visitor recored, but only the handwritten date which is no valid document for OHIP registration.

What should I do if I need to get OHIP care for my dependents ? (Btw, I got the OHIP confirmation and I have completed 3 months stay in Ontario already while my dependents have 20 days to go tol complete 3 months). PLease help me out.

Thanks
Madan

I do not see visa (or visitor record for that matter) listed as a document that makes one eligible to get OHIP:

Are they getting OHIP because they are your dependents?
