leon, so what you are saying is that the address for my sin card which would be a vancouver address and the address for my pr card which is the toronto address can be different?

yes

I do not need to update the toronto address of my PR card to a vancouver address at immigration when I am in vancouver?

no

will this cause any complications later on and affect my PR status?

no

will i be questioned when I enter vancouver at customs because i came from singapore and the address for my PR card is a toronto address?

Look at your PR card. Does it really have an address on it?

so service canada will not be questioning me how come the address on my PR card is a toronto address and the address that I am supplying them to make the sin card is a vancouver address?

Since there is no address on your PR card and Service Canada is not immigration, the I would say no but hey, if you really want to update your address with immigration, you can mention it when you enter in Vancouver and see if anybody cares.

Hi Leon

Thanks alot.
There is no address on the PR card.
I was just afraid that they have a system that linked the PR card and to check the address at service centre canada.
Ok then, I summarise that it is not important to change the address on my PR card and both address can be different.

sorry, forgot to ask, the travel insurance from your hometown, if you incurred medical expenses during your stay in canada, how are they going to reimburse you?

Thanks

Hi leon, does air service canada accept hotel address as I have not found a place to stay?
Thanks
I don't know but if they don't, you can get a P.O. Box.

I never had to use it but I suppose if I had, I would have sent them receipts and they could have deposited money into my bank account, either my Canadian bank account or my home country bank account where I could have transferred the money to my Canadian account. If this is an issue for you, ask the travel insurance in your homeland how you would claim from them and how they would pay you.

Hi...I see most seniors have alrdy replied your earlier questions about cell phones so I will not touch on it further.

With regards to healthcare in BC, yes...the 3 months wait is a must. Just sign up for private coverage for the 3 months....my friend helped me out in this...just a mere $2/ day.

Need to check in order to apply for the following, do I need to produce the SIN card

1) mobile plan
2) bank savings account
3) insurance coverage for the few months before the healthcare arrives
4) a job

Low, is your friend an insurance agent? could you provide me the contact as I also need to buy insurance?

When I touched down, in which order should i apply for the following. This is my opinion in running order

1) SIN card
2) healthcard
3) mobile plan
4) savings account
5) health insurance

anything i have missed out?

Thanks

Hi...

Yes..you will need your SIN card for those tasks. But, you should be able to get a SIN # immediately and this is what you need to produce to get the tasks done. The SIN card will only be mailed to your mailing address later.

As for the insurance, take a look at the website below...you may contact them directly and tell them that you wish to purchase as a "visitor".

Unless you have a Canadian phone #, otherwise, you might want to get the mobile phone set up first cos you will need to provide it for most of the other applications. It doesn't take long actually to apply for a phone once you have made up your mind on which vendor/package to choose from. You should be able to complete the task in a day or 2. For the healthcard...you just need to obtain the MSP application from either from Service Canada or download it from the website http://www.health.gov.bc.ca/msp/infoben/index.html. Once completed, you just need to mail it out the the dept for processing.

hi, for visitors to canada around 2 months, is it better to buy insurance at home which covers medical, hospital, lost of buggage, lost of passport etc or it is better to buy a canadian insurance plan for travellers?

Thanks

hi low, you took up the 'visitor' plan instead of taking up the plan for new immigrants?
will there be an issue if you need to claim and they know that you are not a visitor but instead a new immigrant?

Thanks
